Audi je okončao proizvodnju kupea TT još u novembru prošle godine, dok je R8 trebalo da bude penzionisan ubrzo nakon toga. Međutim, tada se to nije dogodilo. Nakon što je posljednji TT proizveden u novembru 2023. godine, i drugi sportski Audi odlazi sa scene. Posljednji R8 je sišao sa proizvodne trake na lokaciji Bellinger Hefe u Hajlbronu u Njemačkoj. U pitanju je bio kupe u Vegas žutoj nijansi (baš kao ovaj na fotografiji), u Performance quattro izdanju sa spoljašnjim stilskim paketom od ugljeničnih vlakana i točkovima prečnika 20 inča. Audi je morao da produži proizvodnju R8 kako bi održao korak sa naglim prilivom porudžbina kupaca nakon najave kompanije o gašenju supersportskog automobila. Prvobitno, posljednji automobil je trebalo da bude proizveden krajem 2023. godine, ali to se dogodilo tek ovog mjeseca.
Gledajući unazad na rezultate prodaje, tražnja za R8 je uvijek bila niska, što je razumljivo s obzirom na previsoku cenu i klasu ovog automobila. Dostigla je vrhunac 2008. godine kada je Audi isporučio kupcima čak 5.016 primeraka.
